We passionately believe that wines should be made by artisans, not by huge corporations and by machines. We believe that wine should reflect local nuances and flavors. Nothing you will find on this list is engineered to fit the maximum mass market potential. We have no interest in "MacWines". All our wineries are family-owned. All are very small (by American standards), and some are even tiny and exclusive. At these establishments, traditional methods, passed down through centuries, still prevail. Manual toil reigns over machines. Craftsmanship, skill and experience come before scientific experimentation. Because our wine makers are so connected to their land, they employ sustainable agriculture to ensure that their resources will be around for the next generation. As a rule, our vintners choose the least invasive methods to work their land. This includes capped yields and minimal use of unnatural chemicals. Grapes are harvested, pressed, fermented and bottled on the estate, with all aspects of the winemaking process remaining under the control of the winery. Some of our wines are made in very small quantities and we are proud to be their exclusive importer in the United States. Please be advised that many of the following web sites are in German. |
