VALENTINE'S WINE TASTING & FUND RAISER

If you haven't made plans for Valentine's Evening, yet, or if your idea of a relaxing and comfortable evening with your "better half" or your best friends does not include overpriced food and rushed service then please join us:

Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club
Wednesday, February 14, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
1210 4th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401

We will start with an unusual sparkling wine as aperitif, sample two different whites and two different reds and finish with a luscious dessert wine. Appetizers and learning materials are included.

$20 per person. All proceeds go to the Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club, which for over 100 years has been a supporter of local charity organizations and scholarship programs. The profit of the wine tasting will be given to a new breast cancer support group which will start to meet at the club this month. It's for a good cause, so please let all your friends know!

Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, 6pm - 8pm: Dessert Wine Tasting $20

BAZAR Antiques, 1108”C” Abbot Kinney, Venice. Sample ten different dessert wines from VINUM NORICUM, a boutique importer of Austrian wine, and learn about Ice Wine, Straw Wine, Trockenbeerenauslese and Beerenauslese.

Often called “Liquid Gold”, these labor-intensive and difficult-to-produce dessert wines are Austria’s pride. Centuries of experience in making them guarantees an excellent play of sweet and tart. No other region in the world produces so much dessert wine of such quality so reliably! All wines are hand-crafted by small, family-owned wineries and will be available for purchase for a very reduced price of only $23 incl. tax.

The tasting is limited to 25 people and costs $20 per person. Appetizers and learning materials are included. We recommend that you buy your ticket in advance as we anticipate to sell out.

A new shipment has arrived! We just received three new wines made from organically grown grapes. The producer is the mayor of a small village near Lake Neusiedl. As is the case for all our wines, they are hand crafted and estate bottled. Please try the Herbert Gross Estate's 2004 Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), 2005 St. Laurent (a close relative of Pinot Noir) and 2005 St. Laurent eSTeel (vinified in French oak). They range from $13 to $19. For our most recent price list, please click here.

The 2003 Anton Zöhrer Grüner Veltliner "Impuls" is now sold out. However, we just received the 2005 vintage of this wine. (2005 has produced a more "typical" Grüner Veltliner than 2003). We currently offer the 2005 vintage for $15.

Wines from this vineyard have been quite popular, so we have expanded our selection. Please try the 2005 Grüner Veltliner "Urknall" ($17) and the 2005 Grüner Veltliner "Gigant" ($15).

Looking for something special for Thanksgiving? For a traditional turkey dinner, we recommend our 2004 Wachter-Wiesler Zweigelt ($17), the 2003 Wachter-Wiesler Blaufränkisch "Bela-Joska", which is currently on sale for $11. How about something organic? Another option is the 2005 Herbert Gross St. Laurent ($14).

And for dessert, please consider our wonderful selection of dessert wines!

VINUM NORICUM participated in a presentation of Austrian and German wines, held on the famous Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. About 300 guests attended to sample wines and cheeses from the two sister countries.

This event is part of an ongoing series. For more information, please visit www.learnaboutwine.com.

VINUM NORICUM participated in BLENDINGS, which presented the Music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and wines from Austria. The Southwest Chamber Orchestra performed Mozart’s Quartet in D Major for Flute & Strings, and guests were able to refresh themselves with Austrian Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, velvety Zweigelt and succulent Blaufränkisch, as well as Austrian Liptauer cheese.

VINUM NORICUM was one of the exhibitors at the Austrian - German wine tasting held at Maple Drive Restaurant, Beverly Hills, organized by learnaboutwine.com.

We provided the "welcome wine" (our extremely popular Steininger Estate Riesling Sekt, an extraordinary sparking wine which retails for only $23). We poured samples of the following wines:

• Johannes Mold Riesling "Vom Stein" 2004 ($17)
• Steininger Estate Grüner Veltliner Grand Gru 2002 ($19)
• Wachter Wiesler Zweigelt 2003 ($17)
• Wallner Blaufränkisch Reserve 2002 ($17)
• Bernthaler Pinot Blanc Beerenauslese 2000 ($30)

January 24, 2006

We just received a new shipment and will be adding some exciting new selections to our portfolio. Here are some examples:

• Anton Zöhrer Grüner Veltliner "Sand 1" -- an exceptional value for only $11 per bottle!
• Two new and very unusual sparkling wines from the award winning Steininger Estate. One of these is made from Zweigelt grapes (this is a RED sparkling wine) and the other one from Cabernet Sauvignon (this is a rosé). Both sell for only $23 and will most likely be the most eccentric thing you could bring to a party.

We also have received a new shipment of our best selling Riesling and Grüner Veltliner Sekt, which were sold out. Our popular Grüner Veltliner, Steininger Estate "Grand Gru" is also available again.

Our price list has just been updated, and you will be pleased that we were able to shave a dollar or two off some of our prices. The reason? We ordered larger quantities and were able to negotiate better prices with the vintners and the shipper.

September 17, 2005

July 30, 2005

Finally! After what seemed like an endless wait, our first public tasting took place on July 29, 2005 on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It was a huge success, and we would like to thank the large number of friends who showed up. We were touched to see your massive support and had a great time. Special thanks go to Martina Kohl for her kind assistance.

We presented the following white wines:

• 2003 Riesling "Vom Stein" by Johannes Mold. Nose of apricots and peaches, but surprisingly dry and refreshing. ($15)
• 2003 Grüner Veltliner "Impuls" by Anton Zöhrer. Very light and dry. A refreshing "groovee" and very versatile. ($15)
• 2002 Grüner Veltliner "Grand Grü" by Steininger Estate. Full-bodied but crisp and clean, with a spicy finish. $20

And these reds:

• 2002 Blaufränkisch "Reserve" by Wallner Estate. Nice and light with soft tannins. ($17)
• 2003 Zweigelt by Wachter-Wiesler Estate. Cross of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent. Cherry aromas with spicy finish. ($20)
• 2002 Cuvée "Kentaur" by Wallner Estate. Blaufränkisch with small parts of Cabernet and Merlot vinified in small barriques. Super fruity and rich. ($27)

All these wines are available by direct order.
