WINE TASTING AND LOBSTER (FROM MARS!!!!)

Beware! Invaders from the Angry Red Planet are headed your way on Saturday, April 4, 2009...

You are invited to a special midnight screening of "LOBSTER MAN FROM MARS" (1989) at the New Beverly Cinema.

Begin your evening at a wine tasting and hors d'oevres reception. Have a swirl and consider stocking up your wine cellar with the famously unpronounceable, imported boutique wines from Austria, brought to you by VINUM NORICUM (the Satin Ballroom Wine Co.).

While playing the wine snob (can you say: Grüner Veltliner?) and mingling with director Stanley Sheff, check out the latest models of Phil Heath's vintage shoe reproductions at RE-MIX VINTAGE. They are beautiful. They are unusual. They are comfortable. And they never go out of style. They make any woman feel like Rita Hayworth, any guy like Jimmy Stewart. Indeed, they are used in many period movie productions. For instance, Phil Health's shoes helped Angelina Jolie fight the corrupt LAPD in "Changling", and they were a part of Hilary Swank's flight in Emilia Earhart. The boutique is like a 20th Century shoe museum, except everything is for sale!

Then just before midnight, stroll a few blocks to the New Beverly Cinema for the exclusive screening of "LOBSTER MAN FROM MARS" (1989) starring Tony Curtis, Patrick MacNee and Deborah Foreman. This 1950s sci-fi comedy was directed by Stanley Sheff, who will be in attendance for the screening. (Perhaps you will also meet his notorious alter ego, Mr. Maxwell DeMille).

As the Los Angeles Times put it: "Director Stanley Sheff and the late writer Bob Greenberg have lovingly sent up the tacky 50s sci-fi/horror drive-in flick with the help of a good cast that gets into the spirit of the occasion."
