Monika Ploner was born in Innsbruck, Austria. She attended the University of Vienna and graduated with diplomas in theater sciences and linguistics. Besides English, Monika is fluent in German, Spanish and French.

In 1998, she was a founding member of The Satin Ballroom, an event production firm specializing in live events with a 1930s/1940s theme. The firm also organizes workshops, award ceremonies, competitions as as well as corporate and private events. Monika serves on the Board of Directors of the Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club and volunteers for the Los Angeles Conservancy.
